ABOUT ME

I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to work across many sectors of the

environmental field, including consulting, non-profit, government and academia.

With an emphasis on environmental policy and decision-making,

I seek to integrate my research and teaching in a manner that is community based and participatory.

I received my doctorate degree from the University of New Hampshire in Natural Resources & Environmental Studies and a minor in College Teaching.  During my graduate program, I was selected as a U.S. EPA Science to Achieve Results Fellow and conducted engaged scholarship on measuring sustainability. After graduating, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher supported by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Institute for Water Resources and continue to engage with this agency on sustainability related issues.

Prior to my graduate degree, I worked for Industrial Economics, Inc. in Cambridge, MA where I assisted with the project management of EPA’s Performance Track, a voluntary program that helped businesses assess and report on their environmental outcomes.  I also conducted ability to pay analyses for Superfund violators.  I graduated cum luade with honors in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College and am involved with community sustainability issues in New Hampshire as a member of the Dover Energy Advisory Committee and Sustainable Portsmouth.  In 2012 I become a Senior Fellow in the Environmental Leadership Program.

I currently have a joint appointment as Assistant Professor of Environmental Science & Policy and Ecological Economist in the Center of the Environment at Plymouth State University.

I am able to work with great students on research that is place-based, stakeholder engaged, and broadly transferrable.  US EPA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and the National Science Foundation are major supporters of our work. I've listed ongoing research interests below and always enjoy discussing ways to use social science to better understand environmental systems
